Toyota warns no-deal Brexit would stop UK production

Car maker Toyota has warned no-deal Brexit would result in a temporary stoppage in UK manufacturing and may hit investment in Britain.

The Japanese group employs not less than 3,000 people across two manufacturing plants within the UK. One at Burnaston, in Derby, and one at Deeside, in Wales.

Toyota’s Europe president, Johan van Zyl, advised the BBC on the Paris Motor Present this week that if the UK had been to depart the EU with no deal. It will trigger a disruption that might pressure the corporate to halt production.
